Repairs – Old & New

The Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd sits in the sun with very little shade on these windows. I worry and need to keep an eye on these windows…

Damage by the heat from the western sun.

Loaves and Fishes finished and back home.

Tape kept this window from losing pieces

Mary and The Child took major hail damage.

Not an easy window to get to, but we had fun anyway.

Numerous solid colors and painted pieces were replaced throughout this window.

The process to get this window back into it’s space wasn’t as easy as it looks.

Tim Ingles from Spearfish Glass was the magic behind this install. I just hold my breath the whole time.

Full restoration needed due to structural damage and failing.

Window and Flag Case came in on the same day.

When servers collide, something had to give and the window lost.

This cross fell and old bevels are actually in the studio.

A window removed from The Episcopal Church in Medicine Bow WY.

I was asked to keep it rustic, but beautiful.

I had to fix this one, but then made one for myself.

Antique & Historic Preservation

Antique Restorations

When working with antiques, attention to the details of the period of the piece is essential. Historical Preservation sets guidelines that are to be followed and anything done originally must be redone using the same materials and techniques when possible.

This window came out of an old cabin on land dedicated to the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming.

Extensive damage to repair and layers of glass to keep straight

Rebuilt to the specs of the original artist.

Given artistic license, and a rotted original frame, a new one was created.

This was the 1st of the 18 windows for this whole house renovation.

I am always impressed by the work done so long ago.

I am honored to have the ability to bring windows back to life.

Age and weather will take it’s toll on even the simplest designs.

No one understands how some windows stay in place with so much decay.

This was one of the last of 18 windows done for this whole house renovation.

This window is indeed stunning, but about to fall out.

The age shows in the dry and crumbling lead.

The center was literally holding together by magic.

It took some time, matched new jewels, and it lives again.

Truly a sight to behold. And looks like a postage stamp on the house. The glass alone is 2′ x 4′.

The paint did somewhat help to keep these windows in place.

One of the side entrance windows finished and calked.

Unable to match this brilliant blue, we picked up the red accents in the home.

This top transom was boarded up by the city of Deadwood to keep it from falling onto Main St.

It was at the request of the owner to save all the original glass and keep it’s scars in tact.

An amazing window to rebuild to the Historic Preservation specifications.

There was magic involved here. The crack in the center is reflecting off the board under it.

Somehow I was able to save the lead work, in tact.

With all the glass removed, I’m amazed myself that the lead is still together.

A beautiful window who’s original craftsmanship leaves me awestruck.

Finding antique glass is a challenge, but can be done.

First of many finished and ready for installation.

This window was pulled out of a family home and well over 100 years old. A few warped pieces were fixed to restore this heirloom.

Damaged in a move and thank goodness they missed the curved glass door.

Enhancements

There are different styles used throughout the world using pigments, stains and enamels to change the balance of light coming through a pieces of glass in windows. It’s an art that will hopefully never fade into the background, but hold it’s place in history as a timeless craft.
